Nottingham is now in its third year, and what a third year it was! With celebrity chefs Valentine Warner, John Clifford and
Holly Bell main stage on Saturday, while on Sunday we were privileged to welcome Valentine Warner and Marco Pierre White!
Understandably, we were pretty busy, especially on Sunday, when the main stage tent – extended though it was – was completely packed out to welcome Marco Pierre White. And he didn’t disappoint, with a seafood pasta dish and a lot of andy tips along the way. He also went walkabout around the food festival, surprising many of the traders hugely – but that deserves a whole blog of its own!
Valentine Warner lived up to his reputation as a top Italian chef; and Brian Turner produced food that looked too good to eat! As did Lisa Faulkner with her incredible flowery cake. We also had a well supported pork auction with the inimitable Johnny Pusztai and Holly Bell was brilliant with her home baking demonstrations.
Around the rest of the festival, the three huge food halls were busy all day, and the sun shone on the Piazza area where we were seriously spoilt for choice with food from every corner of the world; or local farms and producers from the same county! The real ale tent was packed full of local breweries, as well as some delicious ciders, and the live music provided an ambient background all day.
Sunday we made a presentation to Marco Pierre White of his signature chopping board and knife. This was created by two of our own chainsaw carvers, Quint Hughes and Mark Earp to celebrate Marco’s first food festival with us as well as the upcoming English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition at Cheshire Show in a couple of weeks. The carving will take up residence at ‘The Cube’ restaurant in Birmingham.
Join us at next year’s Nottingham Food Festival: 12th-13th August 2017
